Warrior Forum Special

I hope this post finds you doing well!

I went to an Internet Marketing seminar last weekend and most of the attendees and speakers were also members of the Warrior forum, the seminar was called Practical Profits. Some of the attendees recognized me from the forum or from my Google Places course and that was flattering, but it’s not the reason for this post.

There is a major insight that I’ve had at the seminar, something that allowed me to make more money than ever in January 2011 and the funny part is that we all know about it already – we just don’t use it.

It’s ‘Leverage’ and the ’80/20′ rule.

If you want to make a lot more money without working a lot more, you need leverage. For us Internet Marketers, the biggest leverage point that we can have is a list of subscribers and a list of affiliates. Also, and that’s super important, it’s a network of people that can help us to get the word out.

One of the speakers on the event was Keith and he showed his results. He was able to make over $250k in just 8 months, he got started 8 months ago on the Warrior forum and nobody knew him and he was well aware of it.

So he looked for leverage, he approached some of the hot WSO sellers to promote his first product for him, to run a WSO with him and most of them said no – but he didn’t give up and one guy (Rob aka CCMusicman) said yes. Keith got Rob to work with him and that way he leveraged Rob’s reputation and success to get his own name and product out.

Long story short, the WSO was a success, he then used this success to approach other Warriors and then marketers outside of the forum (now leveraging his successful WSO) and they told their friends about it.

8 months later he’s speaking at an Internet Marketing event and he banked over 250k.

Now that’s leverage! And that’s what you have to look for in your business as Internet Marketer – doesn’t matter if you do Offline, Affiliate Marketing or whatever.

That’s exactly what I’m doing right now in my business and you should do the same.

I recommend to start with the time that you have at hand every day, how can you leverage it better? (hint: not by hanging out on forums or buying the next best thing)

Study the 80/20 rule if you don’t know what it is or if you know, THEN FREAKING USE IT!

Look for the 20 percent in your efforts that help you the most (time,money,method) and focus on these task only! Then turn it around and look at the 20% of things that do harm your efforts/business the most.

For many of you, just to give you a hand, the problem is ‘distractions’. So ask yourself, what is distracting me the most? Incoming emails? Warrior forum? Facebook? Buying new courses?

Whatever it is, you NEED to get rid of it if you want to be successful. Immediately!

It’s your own fault if you don’t do that. Don’t go to a forum complaining that IM doesn’t work for you if you spend your time in a wasteful way.

Focus on what is important, on the things that give you the most and get rid (or at least avoid!) anything that keeps you from achieving your goals and dreams.

Here are the good news:

A new day starts tomorrow and keep in mind that
you past doesn’t equal your future. No problem if in the
past you got distracted easily and if you haven’t been
as productive as you wanted.

You can start all over tomorrow, set your goals and get
your to do list ready and take massive action. The new
year just started and it’s in your power to make it
your best year ever.

Just do it – NOW!

Here is a super short video for you.

I’d like to say thank you to everybody who got back to me with the intention to motivate me again and to cheer me up.

It worked!

I also want to thank everybody who’s following my story and my journey in this crazy Internet Marketing world and circus.

I was in a little bit of a slump and I finally feel better and positive things are already beginning to happen.

One thing that I’ve learned is that it’s all about self-discipline and implementation. You can have all the knowledge in the world, if you don’t use it – it won’t do you any good.

One of the things that really got to me recently are distractions. I knew that I had to shut them down in order to be productive but I didn’t listen to my own advice anymore. Rather than getting the job done, I distracted myself with Facebook, Youtube, the Warrior forum and any other form of entertainment that I could use as an excuse not to work on my projects.

Now the really weird thing is that I knew that it was wrong, still, I wouldn’t stop doing it. Rather than taking care of customers, products and projects, I’ve spent my time following other people’s updates on Facebook or watching NBA videos on Youtube.

And you know how it is, when it rains, it pours. Beside the fact that it wasn’t going well business wise, there were other things going on in my personal life that I didn’t really like.

All this led me to slowly get very frustrated and upset with myself. And that’s really just the short version.

I got so frustrated that I reached a point where I just couldn’t take it anymore. I felt like the biggest fool around having all the books and knowledge about productivity and success without using it anymore.

So I took a break from the computer, I’ve sent an very honest email to my list, I went through many of the testimonials that I’ve gotten and I listened to some of my favorite motivational CD’s and DVD’s.

All this helped me to understand again why I’m in this business in the first place and what it is that I’m trying to achieve. It also reminded me of the fact that there are people out there that care about what I do, people that’d love to learn more from me.

So here I am again, ready to make the best of the last quarter of 2010! I invite you to join me on this journey to Internet Marketing success.

I want to talk to you about the way that I do email marketing, so that you can use my strategies in your marketing system for great profits and this way I can save you from making the same mistakes that I made. I’m also going to show you how I instantly generated $988 from a tiny list with just one email.

In fact, I’m going to give you a complete swipe file and in the video below I’m going to walk you through the sequence, so that you know what I did and why I did it! This is VALUABLE stuff!

Let me get straight to the point.

The 2 Biggest Mistakes I Made:

1) Too Many Promotions

Once I had my very first list back in March 2009 after my first product launch, I started to promot other products to my new list right away, because that was what the $7 guides that I had told me to do. Thanks to the fact that I overdelivered in my product, people trusted me and bought my recommendations.

I made sales and noticed that this works, so I just kept promoting more stuff to my list, over and over again. Before I knew it, within 2 months, my open rates and click through rates went south, people unsubscribed from my list faster than I could imagine and I managed to burn my whole list, driving them away from me.

Big mistake, learn from it and please don’t do the same mistake!

2) Not Enough Promotions

After that experience with my first list and after learning that it’s all about adding value, I started to send out emails that contained content that was helpful for people. I told them about different methods that worked or I showed them things like how to do keyword research easily.

The problem was that I was so scared now to pitch anything to my list, even if it was a helpful product, that I basically forgot that it’s also about making money and that it’s okay to recommend a product if it’s really helpful. Now, people got used to my free content and the problem with that is that if you train your subscribers to expect only free content from you, they’ll be put off once you try to sell something to them.

Again, big mistake, it’s up to you to learn from it and not to do the same.

A better way:

Pitching product after product to your list won’t do you any good, you will lose any initial credit that you had with your list and your subscribers will get tired of your pitches very fast, viewing you as a somebody who’s only pushing the latest and greatest products to make a quick buck.

Not marketing anything at all doesn’t make any sense either. We are marketers after all and it’s impossible to be a marketer without marketing anything. You would condition your list to only expect free stuff from you and that’s not the place where you want to be.

The goal is to build a relationship with your list where they see your as a trusted adviser, and that’s what you should be. You want to add constantly value to your subscribers while also recommending some products or tools once in while, stuff that was helpful to you.

How do I know that I’m adding value?

That is actually quite easy. I could bore you with a lot of theoretical methods but the easiest way really is to ask yourself this question before writing and sending out your email: “What is the desired outcome that I want to have with this email and how can I add value to my subscribers?”

Always ask yourself this questions, even if you are going to promote a product, and you’ll build a great relationship with your list, you’ll build good karma, constantly add value to other people’s life, they’ll consider you a trusted adviser and you’ll be making money along the way.

Sounds like a very sound plan to follow, doesn’t it?

Like always, I’m keeping things simple stupid. You don’t need fancy HTML graphics, super long emails, email copy written by a professional copywriter etc., just keep your emails short and sweet, add value in each email with a strong call to action at the end and you’ll be ahead of 90% of all other email marketers out there!

Email Structure

Headline

The only purpose of your headline is to get people to open your email. Now while it only has one purpose, it’s also the most important part of your email. If you can’t get people to open your email, they will never get to see what your email is about.

Conversely, if you have an interesting headline, you can touch more people and make more money. You should spend at least as much time on your headline as it took you to write your email, it’s that important.

Try to keep your headline interesting and if possible, link it to a topic that’s hot in your market currently. If it’s in the Internet Marketing niche, you could link your headline to the current ‘Outsourcing’ or ‘Offline’ hype.

A headline like “This is why outsourcing won’t work for you..” will get you more a lot more attention than a headline like “Newsletter Number 5, Issue 3″ .

The first headline is related to a topic that’s very hot right now and it also creates curiosity, people will want to know why outsourcing wouldn’t work for them.

Email Body

Keep it short and sweet. I’ve tested both, long and short email copy and the short copy always gets me better results. Obviously, it always depends on what you’re trying to get across. If you just want to get your message out there, you can go with long email copy. If you want your subscribers to take a certain action fast, you should go for short copy.

People rather spend more time reading content on a website than in an email. So if you have a lot of content/value to add, post your content on your website/blog and use your email to send your subscribers to your website.

Advantage: Your blog post can get viral, people might digg , stumble or tweet about your blog post and that can bring you a great amount of fresh traffic. Also, people get a chance to comment. If you have lots of  positive comments, it gives you social proof.

With an email, there’s no way that it could go viral and you can’t use it as social proof.

Call To Action

Always tell your subscribers what action you want them to take! Maybe you want them to visit your site, watch a certain video, fill out a survey or buy your latest product. Whatever it is, you must tell them to do so, don’t expect them to know what they’re supposed to do next.

The easiest way to achieve this is to use a simple sentence like: ‘Go Here Now’, ‘Click This Link Below’, ‘Check Out This New Video’ and so forth, it’s really that simple. Just do it, and you’ll have great click through rates.

To keep your readers interested and to make them open your next email, you should let them know what to expect in your next email. The easiest way to do this is to use a ‘p.s.’ after your signature.

Be specific and don’t give away too much. Example: “In my next email I’m going to show you how I generated $1,297 dollars with just one single email and how you can do the exact same thing in two simple steps”

Ending your emails with sentences like this will create curiosity and your readers will look forward to your next email. I mean who wouldn’t like to know that right? Just make sure that you can back up your claims!
